Most outlets covered this story in nearly identical, wire-style neutral language. Fox News, CBS News, the AP, and the Chicago Tribune all reported the death with straightforward verbs — "dies," "has died" — and confined themselves to identifying the victim, the location, and the event. The sole significant outlier was The Federalist, whose headline introduced two elements absent from all other coverage: the framing of the victim as "Another Victim Of Butler Assassination Attempt" and, more distinctively, the appended clause "As Democrats Amp Up Violent Rhetoric," which explicitly attributes political blame and links the death to a partisan argument. That addition shifts the headline from a death notice into an ideological accusation. With all other outlets clustered at neutral and only The Federalist departing, the 2.5-point bias spread in this story is driven entirely by that single outlet's choice to embed a political charge where others reported none.
